2020-2021 is my 32nd year as an educator! My first year at RHS was 2016. This year, I teach AP Language and Composition and IB Literature HL Year 1 (juniors). I am also the faculty sponsor for Educators Rising.
I started my career as an educator in 1988. I have worked in educational settings from Pre-K through graduate school. I founded a preschool in Iowa, and I was an editor of an education research journal for 6 years. In addition to being a teacher, I am an education researcher and a published author.
My favorite students are high school students! I taught high school in the Glenbard District, Joliet, and Cicero--all in Illinois.
My degrees include a BS in English Education from Illinois State University and a PhD in Educational Psychology from Michigan State University (Go Green!)
I live in Bloomington-Normal, IL. My husband is a theatre professor at Illinois Wesleyan University. I have an 18-year-old son who just graduated from Bloomington High School and who will start at IWU in the fall of 2021. He is taking a gap year during the 20-21 academic year. My cat's name is Q-Bert.
When I'm not teaching, planning, or grading, I like to travel, hike, garden, bike, practice yoga, cook, eat, and READ and WRITE.
